Μία ημέρα μετά τις εκλογές, πάνω από 6.000 διαδηλωτές κατέβηκαν στους δρόμους του Όκλαντ, σε μια ειρηνική αρχικά διαδήλωση, που, τελικά, ξέφυγε απ’ τον έλεγχο. Την ίδια ώρα, συγκεντρώσεις έγιναν στην Νέα Υόρκη, όπου διαδήλωσαν με τον κόσμο η Madonna και η Cher, το Λος Άντζελες, το Σικάγο, το Σαν Φρανσίσκο και πολλές άλλες πόλεις.
